Good Candidates for Phonophoresis and/or iontophoresis
If you have suffered an injury due to an automobile accident, fall, muscle strain, or even if you are suffering from any type of muscular pain Phonophoresis and/or iontophoresis may be helpful to you. Ask your physician or you physical therapist for a recommendation.
Usually those who play sports, those who have strenuous careers, and those who have been injured are prime candidates for this treatment, but anyone suffering from inflammation, muscle pain, muscle spasm, and swelling may be excellent candidates.
Who Should Not Use Iontophoresis (Contraindications)
The device should not be used by pregnant women, cardiac patients, people with pacemakers, and people who have metal orthopedic implants near the treated area. This means that there is no risk if you use Electro Antiperspirant and have an artificial knee joint. Similarly, metal braces are a problem only when treating sweating of the head. The rest of the body can be treated completely safely.
