Iontophoresis: No Need to Get a Shot or Take a Pill

Iontophoresis is an extremely non-invasive means of administering anti-pain and anti-inflammatory medications to a very specific points in the patient’s anatomy. It is a very efficient therapeutic regimen for many of the injuries and ailments presented to physical therapists.

Compounds commonly used for Iontophoresis usually include corticosteroids (Dexamethasone sodium phosphate and Methylprednisolone sodium sulfate), Lidocaine, Epinephrine, and Hyaluronic Acid. Treatment times range from 10-30 minutes. Applications can be repeated every 48 hours.
